The Blackberry Moon Songtext - Rogue Valley

The Blackberry Moon - Rogue Valley

Coming down on the thorny hill
Spinning through the color wheel
It takes so long to understand
You can't hold on to everything

My father used to bring me
In the waning summer days
When the vines were heavy with blackberries
We'd fill the buckets over
Let 'em spill on the trail
Until the sun set low
And the moon would prevail

How the days will pass
They didn't even ask

Summer loving is cold and hot
You can't trust it ready or not
Makes you long doe spring again
But the seasons don't rescind

How the days will pass
They will take you to task

Makes you wonder what else there is
Makes you wonder why
What makes a seashell sound how it does
What makes two people fall in love

a fisherman would say
It's a flick of the wrist
A farmer would say
It's the cool evening mist
A lawyer would argue
It's an airtight case
An artist would render
The subtleties of a face

The days will pass
Removing every mask

Somethings changing I'm not sure what
But there's clothes to mend and wood to chop
In the gardens roses blazing red
The wolves come now where they did not tread

Blackberry moon
Always a day too soon
