Here - Robert DeLong

The drive is long, the roads are dark.
The answers are inside the car.
Memory's focused here without revision;
The telephone’s on my ear in indecision.

I’ll meet you in a northern ocean town.
We’ll drink our own drinks then we’ll settle down.
Showed up at your doorstep at half-past-two,
and I saw nothing here but you.

God’s broken us off from cedes of superstition, it seemed
that logic had killed Him off from our position.
We made a symmetry to look into:
and I saw nothing there but you.

I sent you lilies now I want back those flowers!
But what can we really know from 19 hours?
I woke up with posters of drawn film in view:
and I saw nothing here but you.
