Not Enough
Quelle: Spotify
[Verse 1: Kai]
Everything home gave her wasn’t enough
So she packed up her stuff and hit the freeway
Looking for a new way to escape the rebellion cliché
Wants to find a place where she can be her own DJ
Soundtrack’s wearing thin, one day it’ll break
Sounds like a scream coming from the tears in the tape
And the prospect of normal scares her awake
The Australian dream, ain’t prepared for that fate
Chatted up by the petrol station clerk, “where you going”
“I know a place nearby where all the movies are showing”
No thanks, coins down, out the door, road again
Hates to be a bitch, but in a way she’s over friends
Reaching the open road where the mobile homes live
She wonders to the mountains if she’ll ever have her own kids
Couldn’t let them grow up eating spoonfuls of hopeless
Perfecting the art of going through the motions…
She doesn’t know where she’s going, just gonna start a new life
Make a name for herself by writing plays
Got a whole lot of angst, makes her characters too tight
But this type of shit wasn’t made in a day
And she’s realistic with it
Fighting with her past not to write another throwaway gimmick
But getting told that she’ll never be nothing, keeps leaking back
Chopping the head off the cat while its eating
Hotel bar with a beer and a creative crisis
Looking for a soul to share the night with
Found a dude who kissed good but couldn’t talk shit for shit
Its ok, got drunk and did it on the kitchen sink
Now what would her parents think?
Self destructive savant with a trick to get big
Rocking her fuck ups like she couldn’t give a fuck less
Being happy bout the scars & the fears up on her chest
And yes, she knows how fast these days can go
So everything that’s felt finds a shape in the play dough
Not out for fame, or a household name
Just wants those who hear it to walk away feeling changed
But its strange, when she talks to those she wants to touch
Can’t help but feel like something’s frozen up
She feels safer when she’s up there in a character on the stage
Escaping from the awkward risk of engaging
Not sure how many times she wrote herself into the script
Still toying with the ending, waiting for the twist
Just a kid and an art, playing their part
And when it comes, they gonna be the last to laugh
Just a kid and an art, playing their part
But when it comes, you know they’ll be the last to laugh
Just a kid and an art, playing their part
And when it comes
