Narrow skies - Jack Hayter

Narrow Skies

You only know me for what you've seen me do
When Im fallen and confused
But I can do more than these narrow skies allow
I can set posts
I can build walls
I can handle a four wheeled tailer
I can strip your udders dry
More than narrow skies allow.

We're hiding out in the linney
By the edge of some quiet wood.
Got wet matches and a box of dry newspapers
And this rusty old four ten

I could drive an Oregon spike through the belly of this smelly conurbation
Stick a pitchfork tine through the eye of your stinking corporation
Feed your children burgers laced with strychnine
You get in my way.

This could have been your life
A short fat farmers wife
But you only know me for what you've seen me do
When Im fallen and confused.
More than these narrow skies allow.
