Yollo Songtext - Improv

Yollo - Improv

Can’t stop even if I wanted to I couldn’t do it
My skills are loosenin’ up and finally becoming fluid
Took nearly my whole life ta crack my third eye’s eyelid
But lookin’ back I see it wasn’t wack trying ta fight for it
Yo I was just a little man wit little hope for understandin’
That these little jokes about not having a dad had
Little to nothin’ to do with what I had a hand in
But I only knew how much it hurt ta feel abandoned
Thrift store clothes lined dried by a single parent
Tried to cry unnoticed ta hide my embarrassment
Shy soon applied to antisocial by indifference
Woulda died ta fly high away from all this bullshit
See as a kid not having shit but usin’ what I got
Through synergy my psyche finally met hip-hop
It brought me up with all the things that it taught
Guess it was about time that I got a pops
Now I’m grown up and it’s all good right? naw
You going out tonight I can’t I got a second job
My mom’s sixty and still can’t retire
After twenty two years of hauling coals for the fire
My brother used to be the captain of the team
Now he can barely walk around a track with crohn’s disease
So given those facts and taken what god’s given me
Where does that leave me?...

You gotta live your life you only gonna live it once one time one time
Said this is my life I’ve dedicated ta playin’ these songs for my brothers in arms uh
We gotta take this chance we only gonna get it once one time one time
Said this is our lifes that’s been given ta us ta shine defy and find truth in our eyes

How important is it that you understand this system
Then again what is it givin’ you any incentive
The deadly poison we injectin’ ain’t as quick as venom
But it’ll surely leave us stranded with our heads spinnin’
The drug’s ignorance the big man’s the factory
We’re the dope fiends and the pusher’s the economy
Don’t lie to me and tell me you ain’t gettin’ pimped
You reelected a president with the IQ of a chimp
It gets sicker than that though in fact
While we at war with terrorist money and smokestacks
We send our sons with nothin’ but shadow support into the black
Pools of power with no promise to pull em back
But still amazing how we look at that and not them
A hundred thousand and countin’ civilians
It’s an insane sick ethical mess we’re in
Entertained when we see bombs drop on CNN
But brush it off and walk past the shit that’s hard to read
Turn your head to homeless people in your city streets
Neglect the fact that negligence is helping this succeed
Watch on TV America’s final heart beat
Fuck that we continue that and die as fools
Let the evil of the world conquer us and rule
But you still got time still got a choice to choose
Where does that leave you?

Chorus

I have rare moments where I value life for what it’s worth
Like my first kiss or my first death expressed though joy and hurt
It’s crazy though the things I take for granted every day
God help me see this world before its gone away like
The laughter we share together as friends like
The soft touch of my lover’s fingertips like
The unconditional support of my fam like
Anything unasked for that’s been put in my hand like…
