101 Songtext - Get Dead

101 - Get Dead

And we packed up our bags in the middle of the day
Cracked my first smile in a long time and I watched that motel fade
101 South bound to that 156 try and build a stable life on the fault line of San Andreas
She held back her tears the best a mother can
And I tried to keep my head up and be a family man
With no direction or a place to call a home
Well that 101 can turn into an endless road

And we drove, together through the night
And we'd never know, how far we'd have to drive
Just looking out dirty windows, just watching that world go by
My god how we'd drive

The road grew weary in the Fall of '96
So I left my mom and that old Ford and tried to be a kid
I went out on my own tried to find a better way
But you can fight those good intentions but you can't make em stay
And a man tried to kill me one hot August night
That man wasn't quick enough and he fell on his own knife
Now the police are on my trail with a trial date in mind
So I got back in that old Ford and I took myself a drive

And I drove on through the night
And I'd never know, how far I'd have to drive
Just looking out dirty windows, just watching that world go by
My god how I'd drive

So I got on up, out that little town
I got myself a little wife and I tried to settle down
I got a job in the city, hell even wore myself a tie
Worked my fingers to the bone every day, tried to come home every night
Man its hard to sleep when the 101 do call
And one day I came home to, well nothing at all
Just a note that read, you gotta do what inside
So I got back in that old Ford and I took myself a drive

And I drove on through the night
And I never know, how far I'd have to drive
Just looking out dirty windows, just watching that world go by
My god how I'd drive
