Wandering Child Songtext - Andrew Lloyd Webber

Wandering Child - Andrew Lloyd Webber

PHANTOM

(very enticing)

Wandering child,
So lost...
So helpless...
Yearning for my
guidance...

(Bewildered, Christine looks up, and murmurs breathlessly)

CHRISTINE

Angel... or father...
friend... or
Phantom...?
Who is it there,
|staring...?
|
|
PHANTOM

(more and more hypnotic)

\Have you
forgotten
your Angel...?

CHRISTINE

Angel... oh, speak
What endless
longings
Echo in this
whisper...!

PHANTOM

Too long you've wandered
in winter...
Far from my
fathering gaze...

CHRISTINE

Wildly my mind beats against you...

PHANTOM

You resist...

PHANTOM/CHRISTINE

Yet your/the soul obeys...

|
PHANTOM

|Angel of Music!
|You denied me,
|Turning from true beauty!
|Angel of Music!
|Do not shun me...
|Come to your strange
|Angel...
|
|
CHRISTINE

|Angel of Music,
|You/I denied me/you!
|Turning from true beauty!
|Angel of Music!
|My protector...
|Come to me, strange
\Angel...

(Christine moves towards the figure of the Phantom)

PHANTOM

I am your Angel of Music...
Come to me: Angel of Music....

RAOUL

No, Christine, wait!
Wait!

CHRISTINE

Raoul...

RAOUL

(in desperartion)

Whatever you may believe, this man...
this thing... is
not
your father!

(The Phantom jumps out and swings his sword. Raoul and the Phantom sword fight. The Phantom stabs Raoul in the arm. Raoul happens to pin the Phantom down. Before Raoul can stab him, Christine stops him and pulls him away)

CHRISTINE

No, Raoul! No! Not like this...

(They look at the Phantom for a minute. Raoul puts away his sword, they get on his horse and ride off)

PHANTOM

(As they are exiting, The Phantom declaims in fury)

Now let it be war upon you
both
!
